Step 2: Import Resova’s Pre-Built GTM Triggers and Variables

This is the recommended setup method for most users. Importing the provided GTM container automatically creates all required Resova custom events and variables, significantly reducing manual configuration.

To get set up with Google Tag Manager quickly, we have prepared an import sheet for you to include in your own Google Tag Manager accounts. A number of triggers and variables are available to ensure you track the basics, with options to customize further.

Prerequisite: Complete “Integrating Google Tag Manager” before importing the Resova GTM container.

Importing Resova's pre-made triggers and variables 

To get started, download our import file of custom triggers and variables here.

Head to Google Tag Manager and click Admin in the top left. Select Import Container in the container options to the right.

On the Import Container form, click the Choose Container File option and add the import file you have just downloaded.

Choose the existing workspace to add the triggers & variables(typically this will be default if you have just got started).

Select Merge under the 'choose and import' option, with the Overwrite conflicting tags, triggers and variables checked.

Click Confirm to import triggers & variables.

 Supported Custom Event Triggers for Google Tag Manager 

Custom Trigger Events can be configured in Google Tag Manager to track all visitor data, journeys and events throughout the booking site process. Please see this helpful guide on learning more and creating custom trigger events in Google Tag Manager.

Below are all custom events that Resova provide for Google Tag Manager.

bookingSiteLoaded

Use this event to track when the booking site app has loaded for customers.

pageView

Use this event to track a new page view on the booking app:

addToBasket

Use this event to track when bookings or other purchases are added to visitors baskets. This custom event trigger supports the following variables:

  • itemName (the item/event that customers are booking)
  • bookingDate (the date when the booking/event takes place)
  • bookingTime (the time when the booking/event takes place)

addedPromotion

Use this event to track when and which promotion codes have been applied to visitors baskets. This custom event trigger supports the following variables:

  • promotionCode (the promotion code that visitors have applied)

addedCustomerDetails

Use this event to track when visitors have added their personal information in the booking process.

purchased

Use this event to track when customers have completed the purchase of their basket. This custom event trigger supports the following variables:

  • transactionId (the transaction reference Resova provides on completed purchases)
  • transactionTotal (the total transaction value)
  • transactionDate (the date the transaction was created)
  • transactionTime (the time the transaction was created)
