Why is the “Call to Book” button not working on my Resova booking site?

Ensure your Business Phone Number is configured so the Call-to-Book feature can trigger correctly

The Call to Book feature in Resova allows customers to quickly call your business when a timeslot requires phone booking instead of online booking.

If the Call to Book button appears but does not initiate a call, the most common cause is that the Business Phone Number field is not configured in your Resova settings.

This phone number is what the system uses to generate the TEL link that opens the caller’s dialer.


How the Call-to-Book button works

When a timeslot is marked as Call to Book, Resova creates a TEL link using the phone number stored in your business settings.

  • On mobile devices:
    Tapping the button opens the phone dialer with your business number ready to call.

  • On desktop computers:
    Since most computers do not have a default phone dialer, the browser may prompt the user to choose an application such as:

    • Skype

    • Microsoft Teams

    • FaceTime

    • Other calling apps

This behavior is expected for TEL links across most websites.


Step 1 — Verify your Business Phone Number is set

  1. Log into your Resova dashboard

  2. Navigate to Settings

  3. Open Business Information

  4. Locate the Business Phone Number field

  5. Ensure your phone number is entered correctly

  6. Save your changes

Once this field is populated, the Call to Book button will automatically use that number.


Step 2 — Test the button

After saving your phone number:

  1. Open your booking site

  2. Locate a timeslot marked Call to Book

  3. Click or tap the phone icon

Expected results:

  • Mobile: Phone dialer opens with your business number

  • Desktop: Browser prompts to select a calling application


Important notes about desktop behavior

The Call-to-Book button is designed primarily for mobile users.

On desktop devices:

  • Browsers cannot directly place phone calls

  • The system must rely on a calling application installed on the user’s computer

  • If no application is configured, users may see a prompt asking them to choose an app

This is standard browser behavior and cannot be overridden by Resova.


If the button still does not work

If you have confirmed your Business Phone Number is configured and the issue continues:

  • Clear your browser cache and reload the page

  • Test the button on another device

  • Test the direct Resova booking page (not an embedded version)

If the feature works on the direct Resova booking page but not when embedded on your website, the issue may be related to the website embed configuration.

In that case, please contact Resova Support with:

  • Your website link

  • The booking page where the issue occurs

  • A screenshot or screen recording of the behavior

This will help the support team investigate further.
