Creating Taxes and Fees in Resova
Resova allows you to create and apply various taxes and fees to bookings, ensuring seamless financial management. This guide covers how to configure, apply, and manage taxes and fees in your system.
Creating Taxes & Fees
To set up taxes and fees, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Settings > General Settings.
- Select Taxes & Fees from the left-hand menu.
- Click Create Tax/Fee in the top right-hand corner.
Creating a Tax
- Under the Create Tax tab, enter a Title (e.g., “Sales Tax”).
- Set a Pricing Type:
- Exclusive of pricing – Tax is added on top of the base price.
- Inclusive of pricing – Tax is already included in the listed price.
- Choose a Rate Type:
- Fixed Value – A specific amount per booking/item.
- Per Ticket Value – Applied per ticket instead of the total order.
- Percentage – A percentage of the total price.
- Set the applicable Rate (e.g., 7.5% for Sales Tax).

Compound this tax when applied (Optional)

Enable this toggle if the tax should be calculated in addition to any other applied taxes or fees.
- If disabled, the tax applies independently of other charges.

- Select which Items, Extras, and Gift Vouchers the tax applies to.
- Click Create Tax to save.

Creating a Fee
Fees can be used for booking modifications, cancellations, or other service-related charges.
- Click the Create Tax/Fee button.
- Select the Create Fee tab.
- Enter a Title (e.g., “Cancellation Fee”).
- Set the fee rules:
- Activation Rules:
- Apply to new bookings.
- Apply only if bookings are rescheduled.
- Apply only if bookings are canceled.
- Period Rules:
- Apply at any time.
- Apply if rescheduled/canceled before a certain time (e.g., 1 hour before event).
- Activation Rules:
- Configure Fee Values:
- Rate Type:
- Fixed Value – A set dollar amount.
- Per Ticket Value – Charged per ticket in a booking.
- Percentage – A percentage of the total booking cost.
- Rate ($ or %) – Enter the chargeable fee amount.
- Rate Type:
- Click Create Fee to finalize.
Note: Some convenience fees require activation from Resova Support. Click Request Activation if needed.
Managing & Editing Taxes & Fees
Once created, taxes and fees appear in the Taxes & Fees section. You can:
- Edit: Click the settings ⚙️ icon next to a tax/fee to modify.
- Activate/Deactivate: Use the toggle switch to enable or disable.
- Delete: Click the 🗑️ trash icon to remove a tax or fee permanently.
Applying Taxes & Fees to Bookings
- Taxes and fees will automatically apply based on your configured rules.
- You can review applied taxes and fees in booking summaries during checkout.
