Sending Emails to Guests from a Custom Email Address
You can send all customer-facing emails, such as confirmations and reminders, from your own custom email address (e.g., bookings@yourcompany.com). This enhances professionalism and brand consistency while ensuring successful email delivery.
Important Note:
To prevent emails from landing in spam folders, using a custom email address requires:
- Verification in Resova
- Updating DNS records on your domain name
This process authorizes Resova to send emails on behalf of your domain. We recommend this setup for users familiar with DNS records. Alternatively, contact your domain hosting provider for assistance.
Note: To ensure that emails are successfully delivered to guests (and to avoid spam folders), sending emails from a custom email address such as bookings@companyname.com will require verification in Resova and some changes to DNS records on your domain name. This process will authorize and provide permission to Resova to send emails on behalf of your custom email address. We recommend that those with experience in DNS records continue with the following instructions. Alternatively, you can contact your hosting provider for assistance.
DMARC policies restrict Resova from sending emails on behalf of the following email clients:
- Google (@gmail.com)
- Hotmail (@hotmail.com, @live.com, @msn.com, @outlook.com)
- Yahoo (@yahoo.com)
To use a custom 'From Email' Address, we recommend you use your own domain name extension such as "info@mycompany.com" or "bookings@tourcompany.com".
If you cannot provide one of these emails, please use the default option we provide.
Step 1: Adding a Custom Email Address to Resova
- From the main navigation, go to Settings > Emails & Messaging.
- Select General Email Settings from the menu on the left.
- Enter your desired custom email address (e.g., bookings@yourcompany.com) in the “From Email Address” field.
- Click “Replace” to add the email address.
You’re almost there! Now it’s time to verify and authorize Resova to send emails on behalf of your email address.
Step 2: Adding Resova’s DNS Records to Your Domain
- After adding your email, Resova will provide specific DNS records.
- Copy and paste these records into your domain’s DNS settings.

Step 3: Verifying Your Custom Email Address
Once the DNS records are added, verify your domain to complete the setup:
- Navigate back to Settings > Emails & Messaging > General Email Settings.
- Click the “Verify” button next to your custom email address.
- In the verification modal, select “Verify Domain Name”.
- If the DNS records are correct, you’ll receive a success message, and Resova will now send emails on your behalf.
- If verification fails, double-check that the DNS records match the ones provided by Resova.
Need Help?
If you’re unable to verify your domain:
- Ensure the DNS records have been added correctly following the instructions.
- Contact your domain or hosting provider for support.
Not Ready to Verify?
You can revisit the DNS records at any time:
- Head to General Email Settings.
- Click “Verify” next to your custom email address to view the records again.
Congratulations!
Once verified, Resova will start sending all emails (e.g., confirmations, reminders, follow-ups) from your custom email address, enhancing your brand’s credibility and customer experience.
