Applying Closed Periods to Items

Blocking Online Booking Availability with Closed Periods

Closed Periods allow you to prevent an item from being booked during specific dates and times. This is useful for holidays, private events, maintenance, staffing limitations, or recurring periods when bookings should not be available.

Accessing Closed Periods

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Items.
  2. Locate the item you would like to modify.
  3. Hover over the item and select Manage Item.
  4. Select Closed Periods from the menu on the left.

Creating a Closed Period

  1. Click Create Closed Period.
  2. Enter a descriptive title (for example, Closed for Holidays or Weekday Afternoon Closure).
  3. Configure the date range, days of the week, and time range that should be unavailable for booking.
  4. Click Save.

Once saved, customers and staff users will be prevented from creating bookings during the defined closed period.

Managing Existing Closed Periods

Existing closed periods are displayed in the Closed Periods list.

To modify a closed period:

  1. Select the closed period from the list.
  2. Update the settings as needed.
  3. Save your changes.

To remove a closed period:

  1. Open the closed period.
  2. Delete the rule.
  3. Confirm the removal.

Important: Existing Bookings

If bookings already exist within the date and time range being closed, Resova may display a warning indicating that bookings exist within the requested closed period.

Affected bookings must be rescheduled or canceled before the closed period can be applied successfully.

Example

To block online bookings from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM every Monday through Friday during April:

  • Create a Closed Period
  • Set the date range to April
  • Select Monday through Friday
  • Set the time range to 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
  • Save the rule

This will prevent new bookings during those hours while leaving all other available times unchanged.

Additional Notes

  • Multiple closed periods can be created for the same item.
  • Closed periods can be created, edited, or removed from the Team Calendar or the item's Closed Periods settings page.
  • Closed periods only affect the item they are configured on. If multiple items require the same restriction, the closed period must be created for each applicable item.
